This painting was the first in the River Deep Collection, the one that started it all, the painting I built a series around because it whispered to me to paint more.
So I did. River Deep, Rocky High is a love letter on canvas to the water, wind and wild. It’s inspired from a magical rocky point on our new log cabin property where two rocky outcrops are connected by a little stream. It’s the feeling of timelessness, being surrounded by the ancient Canadian Shield rock, touring pines while looking across the whole lake in wonder. The energy and beauty of our Canadian land sings to me about timelessness and all the Earth’s secrets right down to it's core. It’s the simple elements of nature I come back to when I close my eyes - rugged textured rocks, blue sky and flowing water. Can you feel it?
